What’s Happening with ISO?
ISO is coming along at a great pace. We’re working on fine tuning the Procedures, Work Instruction and Forms that have been created by the departments. As changes are being implemented, they are begin routed through PE’s Document Control Process before being uploaded to the ISO Site. Remember, all employees are able to view the information (Procedures, Forms and Work Instructions) as well as make recommendations on process improvements. This can all be done through the ISO site. Remember, if you sit on a Government site, you may not be able to access the site while on the premises. Be sure to check access when you are at a different location (such as a home computer or PE Site).
ISO 9001 Auditor Update
A big thank you to those ISO 9001 Auditors who volunteer to help lead the most recent two audits to success for Finance & Accounting and HR. You all did an amazing job!
For those individuals who are interested, we do plan to hold one last ISO Training July 23-24, 2015. Please be sure to communicate your interests to Carrie Lynch, Sarah Clemente or Marquitta Harris. Remember, participation will require supervisor approval.
We were able to successfully complete internal audits for Finance & Accounting, Corrective Action, HR/Recruiting, and Document Control. Again, all areas did a great job of documenting their activities and providing evidence of their processes (which is a requirement of ISO). We were able to identify some Opportunities for Improvements (or OFIs) in Finance & Accounting. We are always looking for ways to make the company more efficient. A big THANKS to everyone who participated and openly answered our questions. All audit results are on the ISO site under Section 6.1.
We also had our first ISO Management Review Meeting! The Meeting Minutes are on the ISO site under Section 6.1.
What’s Coming Up?
July is a time of action for PE and ISO! Following the holiday, we have briefings scheduled for each certifying department to brief the Advisory Panel on the processes, procedures, forms, and work instructions. The Advisory Panel is a team of PE employees who provide Corporate guidance to the IMR and the Departments for ISO. The panel will provide feedback, ask questions and make recommendations for improvement if necessary.
There’s also a MANDATORY ISO Auditor Meeting scheduled for all individuals who have already completed ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Training. While you should have an invite already, if not, please contact me immediately at 703-291-5034 x 2014.
As we move into the next phase of ISO implementation, we will hold one final ISO Auditor class. Please contact us immediately if you would like to attend. Keep in mind that when called on to conduct an audit, it is to be treated as a priority.
Lastly, we will wrap up July with our final internal audit of Program Management. All participating BGDs and PMs should have received an invite along with the required procedures by now. If not, please contact me immediately.
Anyone interested in reviewing any of the Policies, Procedures, Manuals, Work Instructions, Forms or Audit Data that has been compiled to date can do so on the ISO site.
In August, the certifying Departments, the Core 4 and the IMR will be working to plan a MANDATORY ISO Orientation. The purpose of the orientation will be to give employees an overview of what changes have been made, what the impact will be to you, how you can get even more involved, and how the entire ISO process has been integrated into PE.
It will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have to each department about their processes, procedures, or forms as they relate to ISO. The orientation will provide invaluable information that all employees will be expected to know in the event of an audit.
